DoxyPEP Clinic – by Dickson Chemist
Take control of your sexual health
At the DoxyPEP Clinic, we provide a private prescribing service for doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (DoxyPEP). This approach is used by some people to reduce their risk of acquiring certain sexually transmitted infections (STIs) after unprotected sex.
What is DoxyPEP?
DoxyPEP involves taking a single dose of doxycycline (200mg) within 72 hours of condomless sexual contact.
Evidence suggests that this may reduce the chance of contracting syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhoea, although it does not provide complete protection.
It should be used alongside regular STI screening and safer sex practices, not as a replacement for them.
Is DoxyPEP right for me?
Our clinicians will review your medical history and recent sexual health background to determine if DoxyPEP is safe and appropriate for you. We will ask about:
-
Allergies to antibiotics (including doxycycline)
-
Any current medications
-
Past or current health conditions (e.g. kidney, liver, or oesophageal disease)
-
Your sexual health history and HIV/PrEP status
What to expect
-
Complete a short medical questionnaire online.
-
Clinical review by one of our prescribers.
-
If suitable, a private prescription for DoxyPEP will be issued after your appointment.
-
You will be advised on how to take it safely and the importance of regular sexual health check-ups.
